Stayed here for 1 night during our road trip. We had a warm welcome when entering the hotel. New owners are really nice and even guided us to our room. We had the John Wayne room (I think because we booked during low season and wanted a Kingbed). Even though we didn't know who it was (shame on us), made it more of a experience. View from the hotel was amazing on the snowy mountains. For some negative reviews, It is all a bit older, but it really has its charms. You can see that they're doing there upper best to renovate the hotel. Breakfast was by far the best we have had during our vacation. Almost everything was homemade. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel is located right off one of the main streets in Independence. While there are a few small convenience stores and places to eat, I would suggest loading up in Lone Pine. The hotel itself is a historical property that takes you back in time. With simple provisions, we found the rooms met the needs of our quick trip. Don’t come here expecting it to be the Ritz Carlton. What you WILL find is a nice clean, safe property, with caretakers who are INCREDIBLY sweet. They went out of their way to accommodate some last minute reservation modifications. They even set aside a few early morning breakfast bags for us as we were preparing to hit the trails at four in the morning. If I’m ever in the area, I’d gladly stay here again.

A very interesting hotel, architecturally and historically. The original features and furnishings are charming and she feels like a time capsule. The couple running her are very nice and informative. The bed and linens are soft and comfortable, affording a very nice sleep. I hope that as the covid restrictions loosen up some basic amenities might improve in spite of the awaiting restorations. No televisions in rooms is quite fine but to have ice available for guests would be nice.

We absolutely love this place. Yes, the amenities are somewhat bare, but that's the charm of this place. It's just an awesome, old cowboy sort of place. John Wayne used to stay here! This place is heaven. We love this place so much that we're spending our honeymoon here. The peace of the area and the views of the nature around us is our perfect getaway. Looking forward to further renovations, and hoping they don't upgrade it too much at all cuz it's damn near perfect. Cindy and Derek are amazing innkeepers and they'll take good care of you and have recommendations for anything or anywhere you might need. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for the traveler who appreciates unique and special experiences. :)

Love the simplicity of this historic hotel! It definitely takes you back to a different time. You get the dated smells (nostalgic), creaky floors, and quiet hallways. The rooms have showers with plenty of hot water and a comfortable bed. The staff are very friendly. Bag breakfast is included, as the normal buffet has to be postponed at the moment. Hair dryers and shampoo/conditioner are not provided in the room, so make sure to bring some along! Can only imagine the vibe of this hotel without the presence of a pandemic. There is also a nice, peaceful courtyard to sit and relax. An old kitty will most likely, immediately greet you! He/she loves lots of petting and attention. Highly recommend if you love simplicity without all of the modern technology. A great getaway from that.

If you wish to stay and live amongst the times of old, maybe even stay in the same room John Wayne once stayed in and see what times were like in a big, beautiful Hotel -bed and breakfast in the late 1920's in a small quaint town set within many natural wonders along the Eastern Sierra Nevadas... well, you should stay here. Time stands still, wood floors creak, wood windows howl and the sinks have separate hot and cold faucets so make sure you have the time to really take HISTORY in, before places like this, exist, no more. I'll also be excited to stay and see this place after the new owners have finished the Hotel's renovations.

Really wonderful place! Will definitely stay again! Things are cut down a bit for covid but the place was charming and inviting. This hotel is a living piece of history (1920s) and the perfect place for a “middle of nowhere” distraction-free random getaway... which is exactly what we wanted. I only hope to return to see the place in full swing! Apparently a renovation is planned to upgrade some things and add air conditioning. Even in its current condition it was just what we were looking for. Thanks!

This place takes you back in time . If anyone gives a bad review for this charming place then they don’t truly appreciate the history. Slept well in a large antique green sleigh bed . The room has so much character. A matching green dresser and desk with a little antique chair in the corner. Huge tub to soak in after a days hike. The creaky wooden floors. The owner greeted me at my car said I could check in early. Helped me check in . I could see the mountains from my window . Everything was so peaceful. Had such a great stay . Thank you . I will definitely stay again on my next passing through adventure.
